“Life is a game that cannot be won or lost, only played”.
In my training to become a coach, I learned life principles. Life Principles are non-judgmental, objective rules that you live by every day. They are the posts we see often on Facebook with nice pictures, very inspirational. We read them, think nice things and then forget them. We don’t really put the effort in living by them.
Well, for the past 3-½ years, I have been living by life principles…
- Here are a few examples…
- “Life is a game that cannot be won or lost, only played”.
- “Each moment describes who you are, and gives you the opportunity to choose if that’s who you want to be.”
- “The only constant is change”.
- “Life offers neither problems or challenges, only opportunities.”
Now just imagine the impact in (and on!) your life if you live exactly by these principles… Really take a moment; imagine you are faced with a situation where you feel like you are about to lose it, you feel angry, frustrated and even discouraged…. Take a moment and read these life principles…
“Life is a game that cannot be won or lost and only played”, what would you do in the situation you are in? If you knew that you cannot lose (or win), how different would your actions be? How freeing is it? How would your attitude change?
“Life offers neither problems nor challenges, only opportunities”, what is to learn here?
“The only constant is change”, how can you adapt?
“Each moment describes who you are, and gives you the opportunity to choose if that’s who you want to be”, is the way you are reacting to the situation really what you want to put out there? What would you change? Who do you want to be?
Life Principles are not there just to read them in the morning and hope they will have an impact on us some day, some how… They exist so we can live by them. They truly are freeing. We simply have to WANT to live by them. Try it, your perspective on life and on your work will be very different!!!
